Through my work as a volunteer photographer for the Heartfelt organisation, I have met some truly beautiful people. Tash and her husband Mike are just two of them. For the past 7 years, this couple have been on a journey that sadly, is far too familiar for many couples.
The journey of IVF, miscarriage and loss.
Tash and Mike have kindly given me their blessing to share their story…
For the past 7 years Tash and Mike have been trying to conceive. They have suffered two early losses followed by a precious baby born prematurely. Hugo arrived on the 1st of April, 2013 and lived for 2 hours and 25 minutes.
To find a sense of purpose in their grief, Tash and Mike created The Hugo Effect
Through The Hugo Effect, Tash and Mike continue to honour their son while bereaved families are offered support from parents who know their grief.
Although Hugo was here for such a short time, his legacy is helping break the stigma and silence around child loss.
Thank you both for sharing your story. I wish you both love and light as you continue your journey.
To celebrate Hugo’s 3rd birthday, I headed to Tash and Mike’s for a bit of a special family portrait. The portrait included many reminders of Hugo and their babies but it wouldn’t be complete without their fur babies… Maximus Brenner and Rex Hunt.
