Brisbane Birth Photography – A Surrogate Birth Story

Brisbane Birth Photography

Last Friday I spent the day shooting my very first Brisbane birth photography at the Mater Mothers Hospital. While all births are special, this birth was extra special! I feel so blessed to have witnessed the arrival of Izabelle, a much longed-for daughter for Selena and Nathan. It has been a heartbreaking journey for Selena and Nathan, one that has spanned 7 years, many unsuccessful IVF attempts and the loss of three precious babies. It was just after the stillbirth of their third baby, a little boy named Ashley, that I met Selena and Nathan.

A Gift Of Surrogacy

After so much heartache Selena’s dear friend Kathy offered them the greatest gift of all; the gift of carrying their baby. So last Friday, two very deserving people finally became parents. And it was a huge family event with parents, grandparents and best friends in the room. I feel very blessed to have shared in this very special birth. However, this is not my story to tell so I will just share with you my documentation of their day and say:

“Welcome to the world, beautiful Izabelle. You are your Mummy and Daddy’s happily ever after”.

Take a peek at this slideshow, it documents their day perfectly.

When to Book Your Baby Photography

The best time to organise your birth photography is early in your pregnancy. And because your baby can arrive anywhere from 36 weeks onwards, a birth photographer is on-call for 4 weeks. Once labour starts, make sure to keep your birth photographer informed of your progress so they can time their arrival. And there’s no guarantees your photographer will make it in time, so don’t leave it until the labour is intense to get in touch.

And once that cute little baby arrives, you won’t have time to think of anything else. So, be prepared and book your newborn Photography for the first few weeks of baby’s arrival. It’ll be one less thing to worry about when your baby arrives.

And once your baby arrives, drop me an email to let me know so we can arrange a suitable time for your newborn photography shoot.

When To Have Your Newborn Session

Well, if you ask a baby photographer, the best time to take baby photography is in the first 2 weeks of your baby’s arrival. And that’s because your baby is sleepiest in the first few weeks. It makes it a little easier for baby photographers to capture your sleepy baby in those gorgeous, squishy poses. But it’s also when your baby is the smallest! Babies grow so fast! In just a few short months your baby will be chubbier, more awake and even smiling. So, having your baby photographed is also a beautiful memento of just how tiny he or she really was.
