An Albert River Wines Wedding
When I met Fiona and Tony, we hit it off immediately! It could’ve been our love of English television series. I discovered Fiona and Tony are quite obsessed with the entire Dr Who series and I used to love watching old-school Dr Who! They’ve convinced me it is a series I need to revisit. Check-out their amazing Tardis wedding cake and Tony’s cuff links. Very cool! We also bonded over our mutual love of wine and talking! Whatever the reasons, they chose me to be their photographer for their Albert River Wines Wedding. And I was so excited to share in their day. It was a stunning winter’s Friday afternoon and what better location than than a winery on the Gold Coast hinterland to celebrate this special day.

What Fiona and Tony Said About Their Albert River Wines Wedding Day
We chose to make the day about us, not about the expectations others have of what a wedding should be. We chose to ensure the day was fun by having a Dr Who themed wedding, from the custom invites, created by Fox and DollBaby to the Tardis wedding cake with Dalek cupcakes created by Kanella Patisserie. It was a day about us, our friends and family.
Planning The Wedding
We did consult a coordinator, but as Fiona had done wedding events for a hotel for a number of years much of it was already under control. I was more than happy to have a wedding coordinator help us, but with Fiona’s past experience we really did not need one.
Tips for Other Couples?
Look at getting help from a wedding planner, if you have not planned events before. Plan as much as possible, as early as possible. Remember it’s about you and your partner & have fun. Consider table names, instead of numbers.
What Was Something Special About Your Albert River Wines Wedding?
We made sure the day was about us and how we wanted to celebrate. We knew many of the guests would not understand some aspects of our chosen Dr Who Theme, but knew those that did would get a kick out of it.
Tips for Guest Logistics?
We strongly encouraged guests to seek accommodation nearby early as it was more of a country wedding than city and we wanted to know everyone made it home safely.
The Honeymoon
We went on a tour of the beautiful wineries South Australia for two weeks, and managed to stumble across a Salvador Dali and Charles Billich art exhibition which happen to be two of Fiona’s favourite artists.
