“A baby is a dancing joy of life.” – Debasish Mridha
Brisbane Newborn Photography
Congratulations on your newborn baby!
When a new baby arrives into the family, it’s such an exciting, crazy and chaotic time in your life.
I still remember excitedly preparing for the arrival of my babies.
Admittedly, it’s been two decades since my own kids were babies, but I still flip through their baby album and remember my excitement and happiness of those first few weeks.
Looking at their baby photos I can still remember those late nights, wandering the house, bleary-eyed soothing my crying newborn baby girl. I remember the nights I curled up on the couch, blissfully cuddling my newborn baby boy. I’d spend hours and hours, just staring at their tiny newborn perfection, breathing in their newborn baby scent.
Those first few weeks were such a precious time in my life. So precious, and so fleeting.
And before I even realised it, my tiny babies had grown into chubby little 6-month-olds and those early newborn days seemed a distant memory.
I’m so grateful for my own children’s newborn photos and it’s also why I love capturing those same treasured memories for so many families.
Preserve these moments with Brisbane newborn photography
When a newborn baby joins the family, it’s such a magical time for everyone. And I’m sure babies possess magical powers. I mean, all a newborn baby has to do is smile and suddenly, your horrible day is fabulous and all is right in the world again!
But those first few weeks will pass in a blissful blur of feeding, crying, cuddles and aimlessly watching baby sleep.
Honestly, watching a newborn sleep is such a wonderful way to waste time isn’t it?
And this is why newborn photography is so important. Because as blissful and wonderful as the first weeks are, they pass so quickly! And before you realise it, your tiny little newborn baby is a chubby 6-month-old.
Newborn photography is a beautiful way to document your newborn baby’s ever-changing tiny features. Those perfect little fingers and toes, the chubby little cheeks, even the miniscule milk spots and peeling skin. All the perfect tiny newborn features that, within weeks, will change forever.
My Approach to Newborn Photography
My vision for your newborn photography session is to capture precious moments between you and your baby. Ideally your newborn photography session will take place before your baby is 21 days old.
Before your baby’s newborn photography session we’ll chat to discuss the style of photography you like, what will go with your home’s decor and the colours you prefer.
On the day of your baby’s newborn photography session I’ll have a few set-ups ready and waiting for you.
After we’ve captured some beautiful photos of you with your baby, simply relax on the couch while I work my newborn baby magic.
I’m yet to meet a baby I couldn’t settle!

Absolutely! In fact, I encourage parents and children to be a part of the newborn photography session. After all, a new baby brother or sister is just as exciting for siblings. It’s also a beautiful memento for parents of those early days of baby’s arrival.
To prepare your newborn baby for their photography session I recommend dressing baby in loose clothing. This helps avoid marks on their soft and delicate skin.
If possible, please hold off feeding baby until you arrive at my Brisbane studio. This helps to get baby nice and milk drunk and settled for their session.
A typical newborn session lasts anywhere from 1.5 hours to 3 hours. This allows time for parents and sibling photos as well as baby. It also gives time for settling, changing and feeding baby if necessary.
