Saying Goodbye – Our Dogs Last Moments
Today was a day for our dogs’ last moments. We said goodbye to our Diesel.
We took him for a last drive.
We gave him his last meal; the very best black angus rump steak we could buy.
We gave him a radox bubble bath…one last time.
We fed him one last mango, his favourite fruit of all time.
We watched him have one last wrestle with his son.
We had one last turn sitting on the couch with him.
We could never have enough cuddles, so they were never-ending.
We could never have enough kisses, so they flowed frequently.
We couldn’t tell you ‘we love you’ enough; but still we tried.
And we didn’t feel ready to say good-bye. But we did.
We knew in our hearts it was time.
For 14 years you’d given us unwavering loyalty, faithfulness, companionship and smiles. The very least we could do was give you the send-off you deserved.
We will miss your smile. We will miss your snoring. We will miss your crazy barking. We will even miss your dog-farts.
Run-free Diesel boy. Run amok up there with Spuddy; I’m sure he was waiting for you.
We are honoured to have been your humans.
