Are you planning your dream wedding?
Have you always imagined exchanging vows with your loved one in a beautiful garden wedding ceremony? Well then, this blog is for you! For 25 years I’ve photographed weddings throughout Brisbane, so I know some of the best garden wedding venues Brisbane has to offer.
Are you ready?
Here are my absolute favourite garden wedding venues in Brisbane, in no particular order.
1. Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens – Brookfield
Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens is one of my favourite locations. It’s located in Brookfield, approximately 13 kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD.
Bundaleer Gardens is hugely popular as it offers a variety of backdrops for your wedding ceremony. There’s the waterfall deck with the gorgeous rainforest and creek as a backdrop, or the jacaranda tree.
The great thing about Bundaleer Gardens is simplicity. Everything is in the one location. You’ve got your dream garden ceremony, acres of lush gardens and rainforest which make the most spectacular wedding photographs, and they also cater for wedding receptions.
You literally have it all in the one convenient location.
Not to mention the staff are super helpful and friendly.
And if you’ve downsized your wedding because of COVID or you simply want a small and intimate ceremony, check out Bundaleer Garden’s elopement packages.
This venue does not disappoint.
2. Rainforest Gardens – Mount Cotton
Another of my favourite locations for weddings. Rainforest gardens Mount Cotton is in Redlands, approximately 34 kilometres south-east of Brisbane CBD.
Mount Cotton is a rural area surrounded by rolling hills, bushlands, and spectacular views of Moreton Bay.
Rainforest Gardens offers beautiful garden settings for your wedding and the rustic reception venue has breathtaking views. Especially at night, after a crazy hailstorm.
And if you’re wanting a touch of luxury accommodation for your wedding guests, Rainforest Gardens offer a range of luxury chalets tucked away in a mystical hoop pine forest.
Okay, there’s no magical unicorns in the forest but the cabins are freaking awesome.
I’ve been there, I’ve seen them, and I can tell you, they ARE amazing.
Check them out here.
PS. It hailed twice and rained ALL day on this couple’s wedding day. And the photos are still awesome.
3. Sirromet Winery
And just down the road from Rainforest Gardens is Sirromet Winery.
Well, what can I say? It’s a winery!
So, it’s already awesome (I love wine).
But it also offers fabulous locations to hold your wedding ceremony.
Sirromet offers the complete package from three gorgeous wedding ceremony locations to three spectacular reception locations.
And they even offer accommodation, which makes sense after tasting all their fabulous wines. Who wants to drive home?
You can check their accommodation out here.
Of course, you have a stunning location for wedding photography with the vineyards, open fields and rolling hills.
There is nothing NOT to love about Sirromet Winery for wedding venue.
4. Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens – Mt Cootha
Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens are one of Brisbane’s most popular garden wedding venues.
The 56-hectare gardens are nestled at the foot of Brisbane’s tallest mountain, Mount Cooth-tha.
And the pristine gardens offer a variety of wedding ceremony locations from the Japanese Gardens to the largest collection of native rainforest trees in the world.
The botanic gardens are just a short 7-kilometre drive from Brisbane city.
And for those wanting wedding photos overlooking the city, it’s just a quick drive up the mountain to Mount Coot-tha lookout, a popular tourist spot with panoramic views of the city.
5. Brisbane Botanic Gardens – Brisbane City
And next up is the Brisbane Botanic Gardens.
Set in the heart of Brisbane city, the Brisbane Botanic gardens are a popular garden wedding venue.
I mean, have you been there in September?
Because I can tell you; I’ve waited in line with other wedding photographers (they almost need delicatessen numbers) at the beautiful old fig trees.
Yes, that’s how popular these 17-hectare gardens are.
There are so many locations for weddings photos from the banks of the Brisbane River to their sub-tropical botanic gardens.
But you need to book your wedding location, so you don’t miss out.
It’s also a perfect location for wedding photos if your wedding or reception venue are nearby.
6. Boulevard Gardens – Indooroopilly
Another garden wedding venue tucked away near the heart of Brisbane, is Boulevard Gardens.
Boulevard Gardens offers a beautiful garden wedding and reception venue just minutes from the CBD.
They have convenient wedding packages, beautiful photo opportunities, fantastic service, and a delicious menu.
What more can you want for your wedding?
Check them out here.
Ah, Cherbon Waters.
It’s such a cool venue and a hidden gem east of Brisbane.
Apart from the fact it’s an equestrian centre where you can learn to ride horses, it’s also a stunning garden wedding venue.
You’ll find Cherbon Waters in Burbank, just 25 minutes from Brisbane’s CBD.
The venue offers lush gardens for your wedding ceremony and a permanent marquee for your reception.
And it’s next to a beautiful lake so there are so many stunning photographic opportunities for your wedding day.
And next is Glengariff.
Just a 45-minute drive from Brisbane is the picturesque Glengariff Historic Estate.
Glengariff is in Dayboro, a rural suburb of north Brisbane, surrounded by rolling hills, lots of cows, horses, and the occasional alpaca.
Glengariff provides a stunning backdrop of rolling hills for your wedding ceremony and has wedding and reception packages to suit most budgets.
And then a short drive up the road from Glengariff, is Ocean View Estates.
Another stunning rural suburb just north of Brisbane, is Ocean View.
It’s surrounded by rolling hills, pastures and just like the name suggests, boasts beautiful ocean views.
At Ocean View Estates you’ll enjoy spectacular panoramic views, divine food, luxury cabin accommodation and amazing wine.
Your wedding photos will be stunning at Ocean View.
And did I mention they have wine?
Who hasn’t heard of Roma Street Parklands?
It’s just a 10-minute walk from Brisbane’s CBD and conveniently located near the Brisbane Registry Office.
So, even if you’re not getting married in a garden, you have the option of having your wedding photos in the beautiful gardens just a short stroll away.
Roma Street Parkland is in Spring Hill and spans 16-hectares.
It features an array of hip cafes, free public barbeques, parking, public transport and restaurants.
Because of its central location and lush tropical gardens, the parklands are a popular location for weddings, formal photography, family outings and picnics.
11. Sherwood Arboretum – Sherwood
Another Brisbane gem.
Sherwood Arboretum is approximately 11 kilometres south-west of Brisbane. This gorgeous park spans 15 hectares and contains around 1100 trees, making it an ideal location for your garden wedding.
And best of all? It’s a dog-friendly park.
So, bring your fur babies to your wedding.
Newfarm Park is in the heart of Brisbane.
Because of its central location, it’s a popular location for family outings, picnics, and weddings.
It’s also next door to Brisbane’s iconic Powerhouse which is one of Brisbane’s most popular wedding photography locations.
Next to the Brisbane River, the park’s jacaranda trees, Moreton Bay fig trees and rose garden make a beautiful backdrop for your wedding ceremony.
The beautiful 2.5-acre property is located in Logan, 30 minutes south of Brisbane.
And Joncia Gardens is an award-winning garden, famous for its Balinese rainforest, English cottage, and native Aussie gardens.
It offers a range of locations for your garden wedding ceremony, including a quaint little country chapel.
Reid’s Place is a colonial garden wedding venue on the Redcliffe Peninsula, about 20 kilometres north of Brisbane.
They offer affordable wedding packages, luxury bed and breakfast accommodation and just a few minutes’ drive from the beach.
A family-owned venue with real Aussie warmth, Reid’s Place is a wonderful venue for a garden wedding with some old-world charm.
Another little gem on the Redcliffe Peninsula, just 25-minutes north of Brisbane.
The Golden ox specialises in weddings, receptions, and scrumptious modern cuisine.
It provides a small and secluded garden for your wedding ceremony, complete with red carpet.
So, if you want to mix it up with wedding photos at the beach, Margate is just a few minutes’ drive down the street.
16. Old Petrie Town
Oh, how I do love Old Petrie Town.
Probably because it’s in my neighbourhood and I’ve photographed many weddings there over the past 20 years.
Old Petrie Town just 26km north of Brisbane and is full of old-world charm and beautiful Aussie gardens. It also offers a touch of history with its vintage farm machinery, old fire station, heritage listed pub and stunning century old fig trees.
And if you’re around on a Sunday, make sure you check out the markets.
They’re must-see for good old fashioned food, kids activities and homemade crafts.
