Real Life wedding – Kim and Stephen
So when Kim and Stephen booked me for their wedding at Sandstone point, I was super excited to check out the venue for myself.
And it didn’t disappoint! The weather was perfect and the views were amazing.
All that was needed for a variety of fabulous wedding photos was to take a stroll around the grounds.
It was all so easy and relaxed.
Which is what you want for you wedding day right?
Their love story
So as always, I asked Kim and Stephen to tell me about their 7 year long romance.
And here’s what they said:
Describe yourselves
Kim is organized and thoughtful and Stephen is relaxed.
We love to travel (when able) and spend time with our beautiful dogs.
How did you both meet?
We met on a Top Deck Trip through Europe, in Switzerland on a train going up to Jungfrau.
Any funny stories about that meeting?
It was Stephen’s first time seeing snow and we had major snow fight at the top of the mountain. And Stephen spent an hour picking a Swiss Army Knife before we finally arrived back down the mountain.
Where did you get engaged?
Christchurch, New Zealand
How long have you been together?
6 years 8months
Why did you choose Alison Cooke Photography to photograph your wedding?
A work colleague recommended Alison as she had photographed her own wedding 10 years ago.
When meeting Alison we instantly felt at ease and she was very knowledgeable.
What was the one thing you had to have for your wedding day?
Our family and a personalised photo charm of my Nan and our dogs for the day.
What made your wedding at Sandstone Point so amazing?
Each other, our family and friends. And of course the location, the food, and all the suppliers who worked hard.
How did plan your wedding and did you have help?
We attempted planning multiple times, in multiple states. And we even considered eloping. But we finally got there and held the wedding at Sandstone Point.
Although we planned the wedding, we did have some assistance from the venue.
What tips or ideas would you pass onto future couples?
Don’t wait so long to get married.
Planning is great, but something will always go wrong on the day.
Work out your main priorities and don’t worry about the small things. Trust me, no one really notices. They just think the day is wonderful.
How did choose your wedding venues and vendors?
We looked at multiple locations until we found the one we felt suited our personality the best, and was within our budget.
We received recommendation from colleagues, friends and other vendors for our our wedding suppliers.
And then we met with each to ensure they were the right fit for us.
And they were all wonderful.
What was something unique about your wedding?
It was a small wedding with less formalities and more time for interaction with guests.
Oh, and our impromptu first dance to Pitbull “Give me everything tonight”.
Do you have any useful advice for future wedding guests?
Just to enjoy the day and stay in the moment. The couple chose you to be there on their special day for a reason.
