Spicers hiddenvale wedding

A Spicers Hidden Vale Wedding

This year was pretty dismal for weddings thanks to COVID. Most of my weddings for 2020 were postponed until 2021 but, in spite of the chaos that is this year, some couples decided go ahead!  When Hannah, Ben, Oliver and Hugo visited the studio, I was super excited to hear about their plans for a Spicers Hiddenvale wedding.

Hannah and Ben’s original, pre-COVID wedding plans went out the proverbial window. Their original plans were for a tropical wedding in Samao where all of Ben’s international family and friends could meet, party and holiday together. But, with those plans cancelled they got creative and went with a slightly different plan. And despite COVID, missing much-loved overseas family and friends,  Hannah and Ben celebrated their union with a beautiful, country themed Spicers Hiddenvale wedding in Grandchester.

If you’ve never visited Grandchester, put it on your ‘to do’ list! It’s a fabulous country location 73km west of Brisbane. It’s well known for its Grandchester Steam Timber Mill and its historic Grandchester Railway Station built in 1865.

And best of all, Spicers Hiddenvale is a touch of luxury in the middle of the picturesque Australian countryside and is a perfect venue for holding a country wedding.

A Real Life Wedding Story

As with all my fabulous couples, I asked Hannah and Ben to tell me a little about their romance, how they met and share any tips on planning a Spicers Hiddenvale wedding.

How did you both meet?

We swiped right 🙂 It’s a Tinder story where the first date went for much longer than expected and we just clicked.

Any funny stories about that meeting?

Hannah had a few too many wines…

Tell us about the proposal!

It was at Lilly Pilly Cottages and Day Spa at Montville. It was supposed to be a romantic proposal on the deck looking over the valley. But unfortunately we couldn’t see the valley as there was a huge thunderstorm rolling through. After an hour or so the clouds lifted as we enjoyed some champagne in the jacuzzi.

How long have you been together?

We met in February 2019 so have certainly lived life to its fullest in the last couple of years.

Why did you choose Alison Cooke Photography to photograph your Spicers Hiddenvale wedding?

We loved the style of photography and how natural it was. We liked that Alison creates art pieces and captures people in the moments instead of a lot of photographers we considered who have more staged and formal photos.

What was the one thing you just had to have for your Spicers Hiddenvale wedding?

A great photographer 🙂 (you guys! I’m literally blushing)

What made your Spicers Hiddenvale wedding amazing?

For us it was all about the people! Whilst Ben’s family couldn’t make it from the UK they were there in spirit. We loved the dancing till the small hours of the morning!

How did you go about planning your Spicers Hiddenvale wedding & did you have any help?

We were initially having our wedding in Samoa and like many others had to reconsider our options due to COVID. We made a decision to go local and a week later we had planned our big Spicers Hiddenvale wedding day!

Any tips or ideas for future couples?

Relax, enjoy the moments and don’t worry about the small details.

How did you go about choosing your wedding venues & vendors?

It was a mixture of online searching and recommendations from our networks.

Do you have any useful advice for future wedding guests?

Drink and eat as much as you can and then dance the night away

Did you honeymoon, where and for how long?

We are waiting until we can go overseas again and then plan to honeymoon in the Maldives.
