A Brisbane Church Wedding – To Have or to Not?
So you’ve picked the date but you can’t decide on the venue. There are so many options for brides and grooms these days, how do you know what’s the best for you? Many couples can’t decide between a Brisbane church wedding or a more natural, outdoor venue. Well, without discussing religion and the many reasons why people choose a church for their big day, I’m going to discuss the perks of a church wedding when it comes to photography.
Funky Backdrops
Firstly, many of our old Brisbane churches have fantastic architecture which means there will be some very funky backdrops for your photographer to work with. And best of all, because churches are generally large buildings, you are almost guaranteed to have a shady spot on one side of the building for photos. The shady side of the church is perfect for sneaking the groom away from the guests for a few pre-wedding photos and is also ideal for the family photos after the wedding. There’s nothing worse than trying to photograph family members who are squinting from the glare of the sun. A church wall is the perfect backdrop.
Who Cares About the Weather?
Well, you won’t need to worry about rain if your book a Brisbane church wedding. It can rain or blow gale-force winds because you and your guests will be safely tucked away inside. And if it does rain, you can simply move the family and group photos inside the church. And some churches are air-conditioned which is truly a blessing for any summer wedding. A church wedding removes the unknown factor of unpredictable weather which means, less stress for you!
And the photographer needn’t worry about shooting in uneven light, rain or wind. Although some churches are quite dark and they don’t always allow flash photography, so be sure your photographer is a professional who knows how to work in all lighting situations.
Nailing the Group Shot at Your Brisbane Church Wedding
The group shot is one that all wedding photographers should get and a church wedding makes it a little easier to nail it. Most churches have steps or a verandah which means your photographer can stagger your guests, making it easier for you to see them in the photo. And then it’s just a short walk around to the shady side of the church for all your family photos.
The Architecture
If you’re lucky, your Brisbane church wedding will be in a gorgeous old church like this one. The unique architecture of old churches makes for a nice of backdrop in your wedding photos, particularly if you’re getting a wedding album. A nice blend of architecture and greenery help make your wedding album a little more diverse.
