Just over a week ago my beautiful niece Vanessa and her husband Paul welcomed into the world the MOST divine baby girl. And we are all completely smitten. Many of us thought the run of boys in the family would continue (not me, I was voting a girl!). So it was quite a surprise for many to discover this long awaited baby was in fact, a girl! Of course, me being the photographer, I was keen to take a few photos of this new little family unit and offered to do a lifestyle session for their newborn baby girl.

And I was so excited to meet beautiful baby Portia, who was just 4 days old at the time. I had to be careful not to go full-blown “crazy baby photographer”. But the beauty of having your lifestyle session is the photographer comes to you! You can stay in your pyjamas and we won’t mind at all! Lifestyle sessions newborn, are about those first few days or weeks when you bring your baby home. Remember how you felt in those first few days and weeks? You’re tired, exhausted and so utterly smitten with this gorgeous baby you’ve miraculously made. Everything is new and wonderful and scary. All at the same time! And babies grow so quickly, which is why photography is so important for capturing your baby’s tiny toes, their chubby cheeks and those funny little milk-drunk smiles. Of which, Portia gave us plenty.
